Rigid Rail Fall Protection & Tether Track Systems
The Basics
A rigid rail fall arrest system is an overhead track, supported by an engineered structure, that a worker's lanyard trolley runs along, providing continuous connection across the full work area instead of fixed anchor points reconnected as the worker moves. Rigid rail deflects far less than cable, cutting free fall distance and largely eliminating the pendulum swing that turns a caught fall into a collision.
- This is the overhead anchorage structure only; harnesses and lanyards are not included.
- Cable lifelines deflect under load, increasing free fall distance and allowing lateral swing; rigid rail does not.
- Applications include truck and railcar loading, aircraft maintenance, tank tops, and elevated work along a fixed path.
- Shorter free fall and reduced swing lower the required clearance below, which matters at 12 feet as much as 40.
Engineered, Anchored, and Installed in Atlanta, GA
Engineered for Safety
Fall protection is the one product on this site where getting it wrong has a consequence that is not measured in dollars.
Anchorage is engineered, not assumed. The structure carrying the rail has to withstand arrest forces, and those are considerably higher than the weight of a person. We verify the building or design a free standing structure.
Our crews install it, and we coordinate with your safety program rather than around it. See installation services. We also install Gorbel cranes, so where fall protection and lifting share a work area, they get laid out together instead of fighting for the same overhead space.
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
Do you sell harnesses and lanyards?
No. We supply and install the overhead rigid rail system that a harness and lanyard connect to. Your PPE comes from a safety supplier, and it needs to be compatible with the system, we will tell you what to specify.
What is the advantage of rigid rail over a cable system?
Less deflection under load, which means shorter free fall distance, less swing, and less required clearance beneath the work. Where the working height is modest, that difference decides whether a fall can be arrested safely at all.
Can it be installed on my existing building?
Sometimes. Arrest forces are high and the structure has to be verified. Where it cannot take the load, a free standing system carries its own structure and asks nothing of the building.
How many people can use one system?
Depends on the configuration and the rail rating. Single-user and multi-user systems are both available, and it is specified up front, adding a second user to a single-user system is not a field change.
