What We Build in Tennessee
What we do most
Based in Atlanta Since 1991. Building Across the Southeast.
About Us
Power and Motion was founded in 1991 in Acworth, north of Atlanta. Chattanooga is about 75 miles up I-75, Nashville a little over 200, and the rest of Tennessee within about 315 miles. That puts East and Middle Tennessee within the same planning radius as much of Georgia. Our own crews do the install, and the same team handles the layout and the permit.
Building In Tennessee
Tennessee Specifics
How Tennessee treats modular buildings. Tennessee's Modular Building Program, under the Department of Commerce and Insurance, covers business and commercial buildings that are built in a factory and installed on site, not only housing. Modular building units go through plan review and carry state certification labels, and the program has its own requirements for modular installers.
In-plant work is permitted locally. Panelized offices and cleanrooms assembled inside an existing plant are usually reviewed by the city or county building department as interior work, with the electrical, HVAC and fire protection tie-ins as the main focus. We identify which applies at your address before we quote.
Where the work is. Automotive and supplier plants across Middle and East Tennessee, distribution around Nashville and along I-40, and logistics in Memphis.
Questions From Tennessee Buyers
FAQ
If your question isn't here, call the shop. We'd rather talk it through than have you guess.
Do you install in Nashville and Chattanooga?
Yes. Chattanooga is closer to us than parts of Georgia, and Nashville is a planned trip with our own crew.
Does a modular building need a state label in Tennessee?
A standalone factory-built building does, under the state's Modular Building Program. An in-plant panel office assembled inside your existing building is usually permitted locally.
Who installs a standalone modular building in Tennessee?
Can you work inside an automotive plant's safety program?
Yes. Our crews follow your facility rules, PPE and lockout procedures, and work nights or weekends when the line can't stop.
What do you need to quote?
The address, the footprint, the clear height and what the space is for. Phone photos are enough to start.
