About Us
Power and Motion was founded in 1991 in Acworth, north of Atlanta. Greenville-Spartanburg is about three hours up I-85, and Columbia and Charleston are 210 to 290 miles from Acworth. Our own crews make the trip, and the same team handles the layout, the permit and the install.
Building In South Carolina
South Carolina Specifics
How South Carolina treats modular buildings. South Carolina's Modular Buildings Program is run by the Building Codes Council within the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, and covers commercial as well as residential modular buildings. Every modular building placed in the state carries a council label attached to the electrical panel cover door. The state also limits who can sell new modular buildings: licensed manufacturer representatives, residential homebuilders, and commercial contractors with a builder classification.
In-plant work is permitted locally. Panelized offices and cleanrooms assembled inside an existing plant are reviewed by the local building department like other interior work. The county also sets the wind and seismic design values used for anything built on the site, which matters more near the coast.
Where the work is. Automotive and supplier manufacturing along I-85 in the Upstate, aerospace and port-related logistics around Charleston, and manufacturing around Columbia.
Questions From South Carolina Buyers
FAQ
If your question isn't here, call the shop. We'd rather talk it through than have you guess.
Do you install in Greenville and Spartanburg?
Yes. The Upstate is about three hours from Acworth, and our own crews do the install.
Does a modular office need a South Carolina label?
A standalone modular building does, on the electrical panel cover. An in-plant panel office assembled inside your existing building is usually permitted locally instead.
Who can sell me a standalone modular building in South Carolina?
Can you build a cleanroom to a customer's audit requirements?
Yes. Tell us the class and the pressure your customer requires, and we design the room and its air handling to hold it. Certification is done by an independent testing agency.
What do you need to quote?
The address, the footprint, the clear height and what the space is for. Phone photos are enough to start.
