Custom Conveyor System

Power and Motion, located in Atlanta Georgia was selected to design, sell, and install a custom conveyor system for a roll handling application. The conveyor incorporated a custom in-feed gravity cradle that held a felt roll weighing 80 pounds, with an unrolled length of 100'.

The goal of the conveyor system was to pay out, or unroll the felt so the product would be completely flat and set up for the next step in the manufacturing process. In order to achieve a flat roll, a custom nip roller was designed that applied pressure on the product, conveying the roll towards the main takeaway conveyor line. The conveyor utilized a variable frequency drive so the speed on the system could be dialed in to match the speed of the production line. The entire conveyor system was encased by a protective Wirecrafters machine guard.

Power and Motion also installed a Gorbel ergonomic work station crane with a custom designed air operated roll handling / lifting device to pick up and handle the rolls.
